Two items on today's blog - both completly unconnected:
1. Money (Investors): New Hope's offering, on a limited basis, more openings for people who want to make money through rental income with our Staffed, Safe and Sober homes. We're offering triple net leases with complete hands-free investment opportunities. Love to have you a part of our investment family - helping ex-addicts move towards their new lives. 2. Power (Closed Primaries): Butch Otter is a friend of mine. It's been that way since 1991. We don't always agree on things. He'd tell you that, too. In fact, we so disagreed on things at one time that we ran against each other for US Congress. One thing we'd both agree on from that race is that the cross-over vote of Democrats helped win the 2000 Primary for him. His polls and ours showed a tight race within 3 points of each other in the final weekend. That's why he put his own personal money into the race in the last few days of that primary. Dems moved over to vote. Butch won. But did he receive the true nomination of the Republican Party? Not sure, are we? Did he serve well? Positively sure. Still does today as Governor. He's still my friend. Party politics should allow party people to vote within their party. Closed primries allow for that. Otherwise why have Primary Elections at all? A hodge-podge General Election could suffice, couldn't it?
Rod Beck is right. His actions will help Republicans who vote for Republicans. As I've said in the past, if the D's would have an equal footing in Idaho politics, then many of them would not have to pretend they're R's, as elected officials....what a novel concept.
