Had a painful interchange with a blogger-friend who takes issue with me on my dislike of the anonymous nature of blogging, as it pertains to character assassination.
Though he and I differ greatly on issues, I respect him and usually enjoy his writing(s).
This time around he's just plain off-base.
The negative, anger-filled, hate-inducing vitriolic comments about supposedly-polarizing guys like Bill Sali NOW goes beyond the acceptable level of criticism. Anonymity allows words to spew all too freely.
And it does no one any good.
Debate the facts, discuss the merits of your point(s) of view. Don't reduce the opponent to an object. People have value. Words are things. If the left rejects, as it should, words like fag, baby-killer etc then so should all of us. If the right rejects, as it should, the words like uncaring, uncompassionate, moron, retard...then so should we all.
To level these attacks against anyone is wrong. To do so without your name attached to it is even worse.
