Saw a very interesting (and unscripted) interview between Bob Costas and President Bush at the Olympics. This topics of these short segments are near and dear to me.
The first one's about faith, Russia, Putin and Georgia. The second one's about the underground church in China.
Here's my call: for all the current hatred vomited against "W", we will one day look back and view him as a very close second to Harry Truman in trust. Nobody likes a street fighter...unless you need one on your side of the street.
"W" doesn't read the Post, could care less about MSN, ignores the opposition party and...as we used to say in the Army: he "drives on".
People hated President Truman. Now it's impossible to find an I-like-Ike button next to an I-hate-Harry one.
Watch and see.

Steve,
Thanks for commenting. Much can now be said of President Bush's viewpoint of America. If we do DO that, we've got to also include the leaders of the US Congress, who funded his policies (Ds and Rs) and of both parties (neither of which had forcasted such a HUGE economic implosion).
As we gave W the chance to lead, we now give the President-elect the chance to do so as well. Neither are saviors, so it may well be NOT what they did (or will do) but what will WE do in response to those changing economic circumstances? I own a business. I will do everything in my power to have it succeed.
You must do that as well.
Thanks for stopping by.

My favorite part of the interview was when Costas was asking about future U.S. and China relations "...given the problems in the United States..." To which Bush replied, "Well first of all Bob, I don't see that the United States has any problems." Absolutely amazing. This coming just weeks before one of the biggest financial collapses in the country's history. If that doesn't say something about how out of touch Bush has been then I don't know what would.

Great point, Mindi. Time will tell on my Truman/W comparison, but I believe I am accurate.
Thanks for your comments and for visiting the blog.

Thanks for calling attention to this. It was a great interview. I especially enjoyed hearing how he uses his opportunities as President to influence the Chinese government. The unabashed, uncompromising straightforward approach that he espouses, while maintaining his relationship with them, is something that I wish we would all emulate. It reminds me of Solomon's wisdom that a soft tongue can break a bone. He did not promise that it would happen quickly, which is why the impatient choose other, less effective, methods.
