If you missed Sarah Palin on SNL, you missed some fun stuff.
The LA Times has a great blog with the two segments embedded into it. Visit and see for yourself.
A few things hit me as my bride and I watched the show:
- The opening with Tina Fey was sorta-cute...though, the transition of Fey off the stage so quickly as Sarah Palin showed up was VERY interesting. (Apparently, it's easier to mock or make fun of people at a distance, than up close...if you really DO dislike them. Fey didn't have to leave the set so quickly, did she?)
- Alec Baldwin's comments were pretty funny.
- Palin is pretty....and funny: "favorite Baldwin brother!"
- The rap thing with Amy was awkwardly funny. I loved it that the Governor's humor came out, even as she just bobbed and chair-danced (no, not that kind...)
- The fact that Sarah Palin was there till the end of the show showed class. I wonder how many of the SNL closet-conservatives REALLY dug her being there....
So, could my prediction from months ago - that SNL could GREATLY impact the election - be coming to pass, right in front of us?
Let's face it, people REALLY like Sarah Palin...and in an era of "liking" politicians, rather than understanding their specific policies...could Sarah Palin's successful entrances into America's TV rooms (and blogs) be the quiet, distinguishing factor of McCain's pending Truman-esque victory over Senator Obama?
Tina Fey just might have an SNL gig going for the next 4-8 years....
Den

This was absolutely hysterical. I loved it!
