So part of the world around us thinks that we may soon have the first black President of the United States.
Another part of the world around us thinks that we may soon have the first female Vice President of the United States.
Which side is accurate?
Certainly, we'll have the answer-elect in less than a week.
But until that time, there are swirls of interesting people-stuff happening throughout the US; with much of the "heads up" coming from the Campaign for Working Families.
- The LA Times seems to be refusing to release a video tape it has of Obama and several unsavory characters. A wee bit fascinating, I suppose. (Not releasing it may be giving the McCain oppostion even MORE of an advatage...)
- A federal judge (a Clinton appointee) ruled that homeless people in Ohio can list their “park bench” as a valid “home” for the purposes of voting. This ruling makes voter fraud a tiny bit more likely, doesn't it?
- As of today, at least three Ohio government employees (including a police clerk!) have admitted to using government computers and resources to find information on "Joe the Plumber" to smear him in the public square.
- It is reported that Sen. Obama has had to return tens of thousands of illegal donations from the Gaza Strip and has raised an extraordinary amount of money from fictitious donors.
- Today’s Post reports the example of Mary Biskup, a retiree who has never donated a dime to Obama. But according to Obama’s own FEC report, Biskup donated $174,800 to Barack Obama’s campaign, even though individual donors are limited to a maximum of $4,600 to a single candidate for both the primary and general elections.
- Today the Washington Post (yes, The Liberal Washington Post) also reports that the Obama campaign has been accepting contributions from pre-paid credit cards, like the kind you can buy at a 7-11 or any convenience store. The problem with accepting these cards, as the Post explains, is that they are untraceable and “could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor’s identity.”
I'm a little mystified, as well, about the $700 Million Dollar Man from Illinois.
Didn't both Senators agree to take public funds, thus disallowing any possible political type of Nixonian Payola Fest, like this?
Nothing really good happens when this type of serious Tsunami of cash rains down on an election. Mitt Romney couldn't buy his ticket to the White House, neither will Tsunami $urfers of the Democrat Party be able to do so.
Considering the NATURE of the devastaing results of such cash, let's shift earth elements from water to fire and throw in a little sky-Jedi lingo, too.
Please well mark Wyatt Earp's immortal words, young cowboys, as we sit around pokin' in the fire....
"Hell's comin'....and I'm comin' with it."
Come Lord Vader.
