The Idaho Statesman published a Readers View that I recently wrote.
I don't often read the comments on a website, but decided to do that tonight.
What I found was interesting. Those who chose to respond did so in civility and kindness, though a few had the proverbial (and somewhat expected, I suppose) back-handedness that has come to define and describe public debate during these years of political polarity...even when said with a level of politeness. Passion pushes us on, doesn't it?
So many never even addressed the main point about which I had written: the Religious Right in Idaho is through.
It's ok, I suppose.
I wrote the piece almost more for myself and my journey, than for those who would either support or oppose such a piece. I don't envision participating much any more in the "war of words" that so defines the public policy of our nation and state.
Nate's comments in the Readers View - about "words", says it all.
My heart is in helping people and New Hope is doing just that. How awesome to help people, gay or straight who have a drug or alcohol problem. How great to see lives changed and under the shade of His kind and loving care. That's real change you can believe in.

I didn't comment on the Statesman site, but I did comment on my own blog, at http://fortboise.org/blog/200907.html#p07062
