The Today Show will be broadcasting an interview with Rush Limbaugh this morning and on Tuesday morning.
Ratings for them.
Ratings for him.
Money for them, money for him....and he READILY admits that his number one goal is ratings (which he equals to money). Fair enough...at least he's being honest....or is he?
The conservative Moms and Dads across America, who daily listen to him as if he were a political Billy Graham, will most certainly be scratching their heads...."for the money", they might be saying. "Really?"
Yep, he's like a political porn star, all undressed-up and unblushingly ready for the Director to call "Action"...and then collect his paycheck.
And my heart goes out to those Moms and Dads. 21 years of listening to Limbaugh brings them to this. This is not conservativism, nor is it the reason most conservatives are in the political debate. Money? Are you kidding me?
In fact, Rush Limbaugh does us a great favor by inelegantly (but effectively) presenting the difference between neo-conservatives and faith-based conservatives. Rush may not be running the GOP, but he is running the neo-cons...and like a bad copy of Charles Foster Kane, Rush's success never quite seems to overcome the loss of his Rosebud "sled".
And just what was that Rosebud sled? Marriage? Strike one and two. Kids? Strike three. Faith?....ah, we may have something there.
For people of faith, money is not the focused objective of our lives. The Republic is not the final destination of our mind, will and emotions. Heaven's kingdom has no voting boothes, no ATMs, no cigars and no competeing fan-bases. Nope, there's only one King and his palace is full of people who washed dirty feet in this world, rather than shoved people's faces in dirty, cruddy public puddles.
Rush is correct on one thing. He doesn't represent me in the GOP.
He may be correct on another thing: he will rise OR fall by ratings. Young Americans really do not think like he does. And that generation is moving forward...for the love of their country and NOT the love of money.

Your anger must keep you awake at night...I'm so sorry for the folks closest to you, bud, for they cannot, at close range, be spared the splatter of your vitriolic poison.
The only "real" Christian...is someone/anyone who believes on the name of the son of man (Jesus) and follows Him....and, trust me, He's not resigning.

The truth of the matter is this author probably would enjoy seeing Obama round up people that they do not like and gas them. I am sure people like Limbaugh, deserve in Dennis's mind a Zyklon "B" shower. Hey dennis go ahead report me to big sister. I could give a damm anymore. Your the phony christian dennis, you and the catholic church whom are the REAL MONEY WHORES, whom have been wanting 40 million more illegals naturalized so they can destroy us, the white middle class. If you dennis represent what a Good 'christian" is, then maybe jesus should resign

Haha William you make me laugh. Have you ever even read my dad's blog before?
And you don't even put a website or email...talk about "slinging garbage."
If nothing else I've got to give you kudos for thinking through your insult. Problem: you didn't do your research. Did you find this blog on Google? Perhaps you should have Googled Dennis Mansfield to see what came up.
Do it now, then comment back.
Thanks for hurling an organized, un-researched insult. Now, back to the woods with you.

why is it you limp wristed, inbred liberal swine always have no problem slinging garbage, but when it gets slung at you, you evil little heathen trolls unleash a wave of hate mongering rhetoric which can only seem to point directly to your own impotence - verbally and sexually - it's sad, really sad - did your mommy not love you enough? did your dad yell at you alot? would the girls not chase you in the school yard? success frighten you? don't answer, these are the answers - go back to the woods, weenie

Fantastic point. Thank you.
Making money has a stewardship component to it. how we make it and how we use it both have consequences to them. We receive favor, we make money and we favor others with gifts, jobs, capital, etc. Strip stewardship and morality away from money and we have a nation in collapse, don't we?

What shocked me was when he was on Jay Leno a while back, and when Jay said he was a capitalist too, but worried about how some people were making so much money, Rush cut him off and said, "Nope, it's none of our business how anyone makes money."
Um...human trafficking? Hello? I think human injustice is a good reason to look at how folks are making money.

In my household, that would be my wife.

I hear you, Stuart.
The heartbreak is that so many people see him as a role-model. And his "success" has placed him in that position...but it isn't real. He IS that John Foster Kane character that I wrote about.
It's a shame for the folks who idolize him and it's a shame for Rush, too. But there is hope...
Follow only One Person...that's what I've come to find as truth.

Dennis, people make the mistake of ignoring the fact that above all else, he is a entertainer. He entertains people with his discussions, and when he makes statements that in site people he gets paid more. I find the fact that he talks about family vales in one hand, and the reality is he has been married at least twice that I know of, and an admitted prescription drug problem. Hardly the values of you or I.
