Ok, ok....sorry in advance for the whining, but if I don't blog on these two pet peeves, I think my head will explode.
Bear with me...and either laugh with me OR laugh at me - either way, it's ok.
Issue one: Merging into a traffic lane.
Am I the only one in Boise who struggles with near-idiots who do not know how to merge their cars into traffic? Let me be specific...because I live near the intersection of two VERY busy streets (Glenwood and Chinden) it becomes a very regular thing to travel north on Glenwood and then then turn east on Chinden.
To accomplish that, every driver who owns (or should own) a drivers license OUGHT TO KNOW that the veeerrryyy long far-right traffic merging lane that greets them is just that: a merging lane....uh, hem...that's a MERGING LANE, which of course means that the owner of that legal drivers' license must...uh, hem...MUST merge....
Not stop. Not park. Not stall their car. Not have a mini-stroke...but MERGE.
That means to confidently drive one's vehicle in to the merging lane with a left blinker on, signaling that they WILL (not sort of, kind of, maybe)...but WILL merge.
Ahhhh. Every time I drive this route I am met by someone who OUGHT TO know better. Maybe they do. But at this particular intersection, their brains seem to go soft.
So, I yell. Then I state my fully-memorized-mantra about near-idiots and people who would die if they had to drive in LA or NYC. No kidding. And my family puts up with it from me....(maybe I'm their pet peeve...)
Or at least they pretend that I'm not...
Man, it feels good to get that off my chest!
Now, let me shift to Issue Two: Inarticulate radio sports announcers.
Let me begin with who is NOT inarticulate: KIDO's Bob Behler is clear, articulate and very well spoken. His professionalism is evident from the first kick-off of each BSU game...but his side-kick (and repeatedly mentioned former-Bronco), "Pete" is killing me, though I am certain he is well-meaning...he is still killing me with his lack of professionalism. It's like someone failed to check the "mumble meter"...and no one is talking about it. Ok, now I am...
Jody Sali's producing of the Bronco Football shows has been outstanding! The coverage, the color background, etc is spot-on accurate. Kudos to all...but "Pete's" mumbling is killing me. Could he change? Heck yes...but something's got to happen quickly. Someone's got to negotiate better...maybe bring Quint and Obie-wan in, what do you say?
So, there...I'm done.
My whining is now winding down....
