Our son, Colin, today received an amazing letter in the mail, dated December 16th. In it, US Representative Walt Minnick announced his nomination of Colin to the US Military Academy at West Point.
Congressman Minnick had a committee of people work on the long list of candidates. They selected the nominees and he signed-off on the young men and women for submission to the Academy for final appointment.
Congressman Minnick acknowledged that, as a former US Military Officer, he was honored to select Colin as a Principal Congressional Nominee to West Point.
As Colin read the letter to my bride, Susan, and me, we were ALL so happy! Colin worked so diligently, for so long on this chance to be nominated to West Point, that it was almost unbelievable to actually see his Congressional Nomination in print, on letterhead.
We are so honored that Congressman Walt Minnick has joined US Senator Mike Crapo in nominating Colin to West Point.
Though nominations are NOT the same as being accepted TO an academy, they ARE what is needed for West Point (or any other academy) to now consider Colin for an appointment. Only each service academy can appoint a person.
So, Colin (and Mom and Dad) rejoice in these two honors.
It already IS a Merry Christmas for Colin!
