Part of any holiday seems to be a trip or two, generally to see relatives.
Well, we're on a quick trip today and tomorrow, headed to my father-in-law's 80th Birthday (shhh, he doesn't know we're coming!) and we've landed the night in Murray, UT. Early up and then to Vegas (for some IN N Out lunch), then on to our final destination. We've got folks at home holding down the homestead, too... plus our blind doggie, Cocoa, remaining in Boise.
But my bride, my son and I have been rambling on the road.
So, I've been thinking for several hours as I drove tonight...thinking, thinking, quietly thinking.
And as we stopped here at a Holiday Inn Express in Utah, I began to think out loud...
Salt Lake City: Mormon. (Mor -mon)
Las Vegas: More Money (Mor-mon-ee)
"Hmmm", I thought out loud, "what an interesting play on the letters".
Now, I don't know about you, but the idea of a road connecting Vegas and LDS-central seems funny to me. Not sacrilegious or anything, just funny.
Now, I honor the one "faith's" deeply held belief in magical powers and good luck, mixed with fabled tales of people long gone....who have "disappeared".
And I also honor the Mormon faith, too.
So, in honor of both "faiths" of the Axis of Oddness, I decided to use my Christmas gift of the Ventures CD to play as a sort of soundtrack to our trip.
It measured pretty high on "That thing You do's" Wicked Meter! So we are "walking, not running" as we travel the I-15.
Listen and enjoy...I will be listening to it ALL the way to Vegas, baby.
