Think about it...
The holiday is on a Friday. The "eve" of the holiday (read: time off or half day off, at least) is the day before it.
The day AFTER the holiday is a Saturday (which many of us have "off"). And then comes the next day, Sunday - which almost ALL of us have "off".
What an incredible combo for holiday/vacation days off. Regardless of where each of us works, it's just a sweet time away from the duties of work and, instead, a time of relaxation with our loved ones.
Christmas, now New Years and....
Guess what, for me the following week is similar. My birthday is always 2 weeks to the day after Christmas, so I enjoy one more week of this magical combo. (At the Mansfield homestead, we treat B-days like they are golden moments to say "I love you" to that particular family member...that they are unique and worthy of having the rest of us "celebrate" their birth, their life and their time with us on this earth.)
So, I am the fortunate recipient of such overflowing love and care, this time around.
Translated, that means "time off", movies, out to eat and lots of love.

PS: And we are going to the Fiesta Bowl, too that week! How great is "life"?
