Last evening I was with many men from one of our New Hope houses and we watched the 1987 Oscar winning film, The Untouchables.
During this scene below, the amazing dynamics of film caught me off guard - not because of what Brian De Palma created in this scene - but by how it incited the reactions of the New Hope men who were with me watching it - as a mother and her little child found themselves in the middle of an unfolding, impatient and terrible gunfight.
The language is a bit raw, as are the special effects of the gun-shot scenes.
The New Hope men's reactions to the saving of the child were tremendous. These are dads, brothers and grandpas who would rise to the occasion to save a toddler in a basinet, even if only vicariously in a movie.
When felons applaud the demise of the antagonist, the story hits a nerve in all of us, doesn't it?
