The photo below is Dr. Bill Wright of Lansing , Michigan.
He is a complex and fascinating man. I have known him since I was 13 years old. In many ways, Bill Wright has impacted me more in a positive way than any man in the world. He did so, because he was a significant adult when I was a putting aside my "childish toys". He intersected my life at a critical time when childhood dreams meet adolescent semi-realities.
You see, Bill Wright married my sister, Kathy, and brought adventure and sunshine to a cloudy and downcast childhood...for all my siblings and me.
He is an adventurer. He was then, in the late 1960's and continues to be now that he's in his 60's.
And just a few weeks ago he climbed Mt. Everest...
Did I just write those words?
I don't KNOW a single soul who has done that...until Bill.
Oh yeah, he previously climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro ( and many other mountains) and has traveled the highways and by-ways of life's adventures.
Small dank huts, wide open plains, wind-swept mile after mile. He's been there.
And I get to be his brother-in-law!
And I get to hear about his adventures...even getting to live vicariously live through him. Last night we just read about the most recent trip...while we were doing our SLC to Vegas start-up "run".
So, today, as we travel about, it's a little cold on the Axis of Oddness (2 degrees) and it's a little long (10 hours to go)...and I'll be thinking about my friend, Bill Wright, the Adventurer!
And he'll STILL be encouraging me by his life actions.
