The recent film, 3:10 to Yuma, was not quite a favorite of mine. A little too depressing. A lot too dull.
Tombstone, however, was the "best".
So as we drive through Yuma, on our way to Tucson (and Tombstone? Maybe...) I can't help but think how tough those pioneers REALLY were. Hard, tough desert conditions, hot as Hell, then cold as a well-digger's butt.
So whether you are a fan of a certain cowboy film (or simply dislike another type of cowboy film), we've ALL got to be fans of those women and men who moved to...and through the deserts of the West.

I love Tombstone. It's just a great movie, with the exception of all the women in the movie.
I really enjoyed the 3:10 to Yuma. Excellent movie...
Another western that I enjoyed recently was Appaloosa. The connection and friendship between Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen is a great picture of true masculine friendship.

I thought 3:10 was a pretty great movie with complex characters and superb writing. However, Tombstone is one the greatest westerns of all time IMHO.
As a 5th generation Idahoan, I certainly have heard the stories of my tougher than nails ancestors who helped settle this area. Hard working, good, and flawed people. It's the tough ones, with the flaws, that blaze the trails that others follow.
