The MORAL clarity of faith and the ability to serve. Leonard Pitts on Raul Labrador.

Columnist Leonard Pitts can often be a very aggressive writer. Almost painful to read at times.

He writes what he feels. And pain seems to motivate his keystrokes.

He is simply not one to give kudos... especially to Republicans in Congress... from conservative states.

And yet on Sunday he felt amazed and wrote about it.

He watched Meet the Press, as GOP Congressman Raul Labrador stated "It wouldn't matter" if Obama were a Muslim.

Yesterday he wrote:

"Labrador is no fan of the president’s. His comment about Islam was made en route to a contention that Obama’s policies have “weakened” the nation. Labrador is a Republican and a conservative from a very Republican and conservative state, Idaho. It is his political and ideological kin who are most responsible for pushing — and believing — the Obama-as-Muslim narrative. All of which imbues his remark with a welcome patina of political courage and moral clarity'
