The recently failed recall efforts in Wisconsin may have repercussions in ways the proponents never quite expected.
And not just in Wisconsin.
Let's talk national geography first; Wisconsin's repudiation of character assassination politics proves again that America's citizens refuse to buy lies.
Americans appreciate a fair fight and are willing to allow elected officials, who win, to try their hand at novel and enterprising proposals. In a sense it almost seemed a bit tawdry that President Obama involved himself in this unneeded recall. Politics' hot seduction lured him in. Like a fool, he allowed himself to be burned by the fire.
Scott Walker now has the floor again. And all Americans are better off that he remained.
Shift to local and regional politics. Conservative Idaho has an ongoing and pending recall of State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Luna. And that self-same American spirit for fairness roots well alongside the famed Oregon Trail, even in this century. Luna's visionary education plans may just be what America needs to investigate. Much like Scott Walker's education initiatives? Maybe so.
Those who live by the political hit-man style of self-centeredness die politically in the same fashion.
Liberal Wisconsin? Conservative Idaho? Yep, both.
It simply proves that the American spirit is stronger than even our current politics would tend to make one believe.
Like Scott Walker, Tom Luna will not be recalled.
Americans fight fair.
