I've journaled for many years - almost 3 decades so far. That's over 10,000 hours of writing.
I write for my own sake, knowing that very little ever really surfaces of any value. Certainly, family events are interesting to family members, etc, but the general public could care less about what you or I write regarding close intimate familial events and places.
That is, unless those events touch their lives as well.
And I keep writing...
So, last year I wrote a book. Someone saw value in it. Soon it will be published.
In fact, today I'm supposed to receive the "galley" of the book, which is the first phase of the book actually being published and made available to the general public. I'll review it and return it to the publisher.
The book is my story about the loss of my son, Nate. It's not Nate's story, nor is it my family's story. Each member of any family has his or her own take on things that happened both TO a family and IN a family.
My take is my take.
Yet, apparetnly folks felt that my take might help others out, so they are publishing the book.
Today, I view it in print for the first time, other than when it was a simple manuscript.
I'll keep you posted.
You keep writing... let your story come out of you.
