The Romney Campaign announced today that Wisconsin's Paul Ryan is the selection to ride shotgun with the former Massachuesetts Governor in the upcoming Presidential Election.
Ryan, 42, was first elected to the House of Representative in 1999 at age 28 and offers a unique addition to the GOP's ticket:
"Romney's selection of Ryan represents a fundamental change in campaign strategy. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has until this point sought to make the election largely a referendum on the president. That ends with the choice of Ryan, a policy wonk who has offered up a clear and detailed alternative to the president's policies. His addition to the ticket will likely move the political conversation in a more substantive direction, with the two sides offering clear alternatives to the American people." - CBS
The ancient monolithic broadcast network may just be accurate in it's evaluation of Ryan's inclusion.
The fact that Newt Gingrich was so caustic of Ryan's budget proposal, early on in the primary election process could bode well for Ryan. The antipathy generated sympathy and support the likes of which Gingrich could only have dreamed when he was a leader in the House.
But it will take much more than those emotional responses for the Double RR Brand to bring success to the rodeo.
It's time to dust up the premises. Paul Ryan may well be the man to do it.
