I took a time-out from the opening night of the Dem. National Convention.
Did the same thing with the GOP.
Flashy openings mean very little to me.
Solid endings mean the world to me.
So I was awol.
But I was not alone.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York was awol, too.
And he planned it himself. Not his handlers.
Reuters put it this way tonight:
"Say you're a Democratic governor, judged to have presidential ambitions once Barack Obama exits the stage. Where would you spend the day before your party's national convention in Charlotte?
Courting the delegates and donors starting to pour into town? Doing the rounds of morning television news shows? Hitting the evening party circuit?
None of the above for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who on Monday chose to stay 600 miles (960 km) away in the New York City neighborhood of Crown Heights, marching along with celebrants in a West Indian parade."
Why?
Why was I absent? I already told you.
Why was HE absent?
Could it be that Andrew Cuomo, son of Mario "The man who could have been President" Cuomo sees something that other Democrats do not see in 2012?
Defeat?
Maybe....
He has an uncanny knack of positioning himself at the best possible angle in all events.
His angle this time?
There is none. No photos, no glad-handing.
Very interesting...
