Here is Peggy Noonan's take on the events that must/should follow this past Presidential Election's loss by the GOP.
As I listen to Peggy Noonan I can't but help hear the echo of President Reagan's approach to governing; she was a speech writer for him.
So many conservative GOP-ites seem to only remember what they think they heard of the Reagan when he spoke strongly in saying as a presidential candidate, "I am paying for this microphone Mr. Green" and as a President, "Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate, Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall."
The Ronald Reagan of strength was more importantly the Ronald Reagan of common ground through negotiations. Having more truly reflected the social values of America, Peggy Noonan argues, the GOP cannot win the heart of (and show its caring for) America with stridency.
It's not Reagan-esque.
