I was struck by the post that Beliefnet.com just did on my upcoming book, Beautiful Nate.
Though I wrote the piece that they've excerpted, I took time once again to just read it - to read it out of context - as though I was simply an interested parent.
It was fascinating to do this.
As an author, I've learned that the richness of words can capture many images and therefore many imaginations. This style of writing works well with broad audiences - well written pieces are favorites for all of us... as we read them from a safe distance, aren't they?
But what is it that captivates us?
More than likely, it is the simple vulnerability of truth that passionately draws us in.
It is a style of painfully well-lived comments which forces us to move in closer; to more intimately look at what is both felt and written, seeing immediately how it applies to us.
My hope is that this excerpt does that for you today.
